Information on the Coronavirus and MWC 2020
24 February 2020. The Executive of The World Masters Cross-country Ski Association and the local Cogne Organising Committee of the MWC2020 are monitoring the recent situation related to the COVID-19 coronavirus closely and we have put in place a task force to that effect. The task force is liaising with local authorities on an ongoing basis and there is daily communication between the WMA Executive and the MWC2020 OC in regards to this situation.
So far, there have been no cases of infection in Cogne, the Aosta Valley or the nearby region. Thus far local health authorities have not issued any precautionary measures for tourists other than normal precautions one should follow to avoid annual winter diseases such as influenza and the common cold. As of now, the WMA and MWC2020 OC expect all the events of the MWC2020 from 6 to 13 March 2020 to take place as planned.
Should there be a change in the situation, and should the Italian authorities issue any restrictions on travel or large group sporting events in the Cogne region, the WMA and MWC2020 OC will absolutely follow the mandates of health authorities. The health and safety of the participants and volunteers are of the utmost importance to the WMA and MWC2020 OC
The WMA and MWC2020 OC will notify the public without delay should the situation change. Information will be published on the web at www.MWC-2020.com and on this home page.
